Getting to Know the Living Atlas and ArcGIS Online (Week 10)

Learnarcgis.com is a website that does exactly what is sounds like. It gives students and any interested party, an opportunity to learn the complex workings of ArcGIS and guides users through a user-friendly process. This lab is more of an introduction and a walkthrough and is really to broaden horizons and draw interest into the world of geospatial data gathering on a large platform like ArcGIS. As a UAS major at Purdue, this resource is a very valuable one.

Below are photos from the lab activity ranging from Hurricane patterns, levels of transportation, and advanced 3D imagery of Portland, Oregon tree species.

Assessment:

My takeaway from this lab was overall interest and a feeling of slight amateurism if I'm being completely honest. The depths and learning curve of the learnarcgis.com is a little overwhelming to say the least. However, it's cool that there are so many applications available on the site. Thankfully, the learnarcgis.com site made it easy to traverse and learn more about all that is out there.
